The 2022 Grammy nods are here! Per usual, Hip-Hop only cares about ONE category. Rap Album Of The Year!

This year’s nominees include Drake (Certified Love Boy), J Cole (Off-Season), Nas (King’s Disease II), Tyler, The Creator (Call Me If You Get Lost), Kanye West (DONDA).

The last few years, it seems “the board” has been attempted to get right with Hip-Hop. A few nods have gone to less commercially successful rappers. Take Freddie Gibbs, whose collab album with Alchemist, Alfredo was up for the 2021 slot which Nas famously took home. Marking Nas’ first time achieving this feat.

Interestingly enough, Kanye West is also nominated for “Best Album“. A flex no other rapper in the category could muster.

Now, some may say neither DONDA nor Certified Lover Boy deserve this type of shine, artistically. Others like Westside Gunn HWH8 or Wale Folarin II (which may not have made the cut-off date) did favor better in critical praise.

All that being said, did they get it right this year? Let us know below. Also, who do you think should or will win?
