We caught up with Dexstarity to see what he has going on and get into his process. Here’s the interview:

What city are you from?
Born in the heart of NYC, I spent some formative years out in the DMV – that’s DC, Maryland, and Virginia for the uninitiated.

How did you get started?
Music was always in my blood. My pops was a DJ in NYC, so I grew up surrounded by different sounds. I started freestyling in school hallways, then started making music, first recording with Ambitious Entertainment, then recording frequently at Midieast Studios.

Name your biggest influence…
That’s a tough one, man. I draw inspiration from so many legends. From the lyrical complexity of East Coast OGs like Biggie [The Notorious B.I.G] and 50 Cent to the smooth West Coast vibes of Warren G and Nate Dogg they all played a role in shaping my sound.

If you can, put your style in words…
I like to call it a fusion of East Coast energy and West Coast vibes. I blend my lyrical complexity and storytelling with smooth production and a laid-back flow. It’s raw, energetic, and definitely gets your head nodding.

Describe your “Come-Up” so far…
DJing late-night parties in the early days to spinning for LA’s elite, I’ve always hustled and honed my craft. Dropping mixtapes that resonated with the streets, taking a brief hiatus to find myself, and now gearing up for this new release – it’s all been a part of the process, shaping me into the artist I am today.

What’s your biggest challenge as an artist?
Standing out in a crowded industry is always a challenge. But I stay true to my sound, keep pushing boundaries, and focus on making music that resonates with me and my fans.

Describe your songmaking process…
It all starts with the vibe. I might catch a beat that inspires me, or a melody might get stuck in my head. I build on that, crafting lyrics that tell a story or capture a feeling. Collaboration with other artists always adds a fresh perspective.

What legacy will you leave?
A legacy of impactful music, music that resonates with people, moves them, and maybe even sparks a conversation or two. That inspires others to chase their dreams and express themselves freely.
